Children, dads and others braved the rain as they took part in the 17th annual Cultus Lake Fishing Derby on Father's Day weekend.
More than 240 people came out to the event hosted by the Eastern Fraser Valley Lions Club at Main Beach on Saturday, June 15.
A grand total of 195 pikeminnow were caught weighing a total of 28 kilograms, plus 10.5 kilograms of smallmouth bass were also reeled in.
The largest pikeminnow was caught by Sierra Yamamoto in the youth category, and by Jill Rogozinski in the adult category. Mickala Hall caught the largest smallmouth bass in the youth category, and Jeff Kuit caught the most in the adult category.
The removal of the problematic fish aids in the recovery of the Cultus Lake sockeye salmon population by reducing the native pikeminnow and invasive smallmouth bass predation on the young sockeye fish.
