A Chilliwack motorcyclist is using his recently released book as a way to raise money for missionary work.

Bernie Constable with Messengers of Hope – the Fraser Valley chapter of the Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA) – wrote a book about his motorcycle adventures called ‘Keeping the Shiny Side Up.’

“I have recently returned from a trip to Paraguay where we gave away brand new motorcycles to pastors,” he said in an email to The Chilliwack Progress.

After learning how to ride a motorcycle at the age of 55, he went on a ride across Canada and through 48 states in the U.S. One of his stops was at the Sturgis motorcycle rally in South Dakota.

“At this rally I learned about a mission trip going to Paraguay in February the next year (2023). I signed up for my first mission trip with CMA,” Constable said.

When he got home, he intended on writing an article about his trip, but he had so much to say that it turned into a book.

“I dedicated this book to CMA and the work they do. I also decided that this book would become a fundraiser for Run for the Son so many more could experience the joy and fulfillment of sharing the love of Jesus and so many more pastors and church leaders could be blessed.”

The book is available on Amazon for $12.95 or directly from Constable by emailing postalbernie@gmail.com.

Additionally, he has books with him when he gathers at Tim Hortons twice a week with his Messengers of Hope pals. On Tuesdays, they are at Tim Hortons at 1255 Sumas Way in Abbotsford, and on Fridays at Tim Hortons at 43971 Industrial Way (off Lickman Rd.) in Chilliwack. Both coffee times are from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
